Date: 2002.
Product: Personal site Mindness.net
An experiment on optical effects on the web.
I designed and built this site using Flash in 2002 as a portfolio showcase.

I have a passion for textures, and I was intrigued by some optical effects that appeared on previous projects due to the overlaying of patterns. The effect was initially undesired, as it generated crazy flickers and pattern motions on computer screens. While I fixed it for that project purpose, I fell in love with this 'mistake' and decided to explore it more deeply.

After several patterns and motion tests, I arrived at what I considered to be a perfect balance between aesthetics and performance (remember Flash in 2002?). The animated texture is many, many times faster than the actual motion behind it!

The screenshots below show some key 'meta-textures' generated.
You can see it live at old.mindness.net.
